I have been looking for it on the net but can't find it anywhere. Can you guys tell me how many factories made/built Lee Enfield No.4's?

I know of the following:

Longbranch - Canada
Savage - USA
Fazakerley - UK

Are there any others? I feel like there was one more factory in the UK that made them.

Were rifles actually built in the POF (Pakistani Ordinance Factory) or just FTR'd there?

Thanks!

Check out the Wikipedia entry.

For the No. 4 Mk I, No. 4 Mk I* and No. 4 Mk 2 rifles:

Marking Manufacturer Country
ROF (F) Royal Ordnance Factory Fazakerley United Kingdom
ROF (M) Royal Ordnance Factory Maltby United Kingdom
B Birmingham Small Arms Co. Ltd United Kingdom
M47C Birmingham Small Arms Factory (Shirley) United Kingdom
Longbranch Longbranch Arsenal Canada
US PROPERTY Savage Arms U.S.
POF Pakistan Ordnance Factories Pakistan

With Savage making the most. A fact that still surprises me.

Why?

They didn't have bombs dropping on them and the American industrial might was legendary then.

Not to mention Savage probably had a production base that eclipsed all the other factories combined.

I am awed whenever I see the production facilities America had set up during the war.
