This poll is only for those who:

- purchased their 10/22 since Ruger switched to the new plastic trigger group housing
- are shooting their 10/22 completely unmodified
- are shooting sporter barrel, non-target models
- are using Ruger standard 10 round magazines, not aftermarket magazines

The poll allows multiple selections, in case you have more than one 10/22.

Thanks!

Not totally true. Had FTE and failures to load. Maybe one FTF.
Problem? Aftermarket magazines, poor ammo, and good ammo but underpowered(CCI CBs)
The 10/22 itself? Perfect.

Thanks so far guys.... I made an addition to my original post "only using factory mags".

One question I couldn't work into the poll.... how thick is the top of the receiver where the scope mount is screwed in? And how easy is it really to strip the threads?

Didn't notice the factory magazine only part when I voted or I would have bumped it up to the top rating. I have put far more rounds through my BC Steel lips than the factory, and with the right ammo, even they are 99.9% perfect. I'm probably only at about 2 or 3K rounds through it so far, but if this keeps up, the worries over the plastic trigger are totally unwarranted. I consider reliability to be the most important factor in a firearm, in fact I have never even shot groups with my 10/22 as it wears a red dot scope, and I usually dump a 25 round magazine in +/- 8 seconds or so when I am at the range....;)

First one was 100% The last two had stovepipes every mag or two. Remedied with the VQ extractor with one of them.

I'm becoming less enamoured with 10/22s as time goes on.

In my (limited ) experience with older models, the stovepipes were infrequent enough to be shrugged off :), but why not have something that works every time you pull the trigger? :yingyang:

I have a brand new,,,taget model with the bull barrel,,,I have put almost 500 rds through it,,,a combination of winchester, Federal, and some CCI.......not one FTF or stove pipe.

Never had a problem before I got the extractor just figured an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of remorse.
Never thought of it since.

I put about 600 rounds through mine the day I bought it. mini mag, winchester, and a few other brands. Hollow points and everything. Never had a single issue.

Infact the only reason i stopped shooting was because i was getting tired. I broke down before the rifle did. haha

I was using the factory 10 rd mag and the butler creek 25 rd mag.

I LOVE my 10/22:). The first box of 500 rounds I fed it was an extreme mix of about 7 different brands of ammo, some hollow points, some fmjs, ect. so I got a lot of jams and such. Now I can feed it a full box of Federal value packs and get mabey 5-8? FTF/FTE outta the whole box of 525 rounds.

My 10/22 is pre-plastic guard and has a VQ trigger and VQ extractor, and a Hogue rubber stock as the only mods. It still has the sporter barrel. I didn't vote in your poll so as to not taint the results, as my gun doesn't appear to fit into your criteria, except for the sporter barrel.

While it runs like a clock on anything I feed it, accuracy leaves much to be desired. My Savage MKII was cloverleafing the ammo at 50 yards while the 10/22 was spitting it all over the place, probably 1-2" "groups", possibly more. The Savage was doing this with Minimag ammo. I tried the Federal 525 pack, and both rifles despised it; the 10/22 didn't change much, but the Savage's groups deteriorated to an almost identical level. My range neighbor was using a 10/22T and he experienced the same phenomenon.

I have bought an assortment of 50 round boxes of .22 cartridges, and I will carefully test them next time I'm out. Up until now, I have almost always been at the range with friends, and there just isn't the time or patience to really work on the rifle (and shooter's) capabilities.
