Factory ammo prices dropping?

It's kind of like gas prices. The "cost" of oil drops 25% and gas prices drop 10% (if we're lucky). The cost of oil goes up 25% and gas prices go up 25%. It's a lovely world we live in. It's too bad those OPC's figured out that they can pretty much charge anything for oil.

if people stop buying it, and supply gets to ridiculous levels, the price will drop. Unfortunately ammo seems to sell pretty well. I'd like to see $5 boxes of 9mm

Pistol ammo seems to be more available lately in Vancouver and at decent prices too; but rifle ammo and .22lr ammo went up in price quite a bit.

###### principle ... that is really funny - true, but funny nonetheless.

If there has been a drop in ammo prices - I sure as heck haven't seen it.

Neither have I. Called and emailed around Edmonton looking to get a bit of a price break on 12ga target ammo. No chance as everyone claimed they had too skinny of a margin to move. And I was trying to deal on a minimum buy of 2500 shells now and another 2500 in about 4 months. Instead I was getting per box pricing and not per case pricing.

With our new ammo shipments arriving we are see some price reductions in hunting ammunition...up to 20 % on some brands. Some ammo has gone up a litlle, some stayed the same and a slight majority have gone down 5-10%. Note this does not include handgun, FMJ .223 or .308 or rimfire that is holding flat in price. As the new ammo arrives we adjust the prices accordingly sometimes by blending the prices of existing stock. Phil.

Sorry my post should have addresed 12 ga. target ammo as well. First off there has been no new shipmets of this ammo to us yet and all quoted wholesale prices for target ammo are the same or higher than last year. I don't think we even have this much ammo (in one style/manufacture) in the whole store at this time to even have filled your request. Phil.

It is not just claiming they are telling you the truth. Also dealers no longer get per case pricing from wholesalers. The price is per box.

Another nail in the coffins of Sporting Clays and Trap Shooting. Lead shot costs too much to make reloading economical anymore and big name shells are getting to be too expensive. If this trend continues the clay target sports will only be available to the rich.

Yes that is the way it is going. It is not the fault of your local gun shops tho. Prices on 12 ga target loads have jumped drastically from distributors. The big name distibutors are the ones keeping all shooting sports expensive. I would say your better off to go down to the states and bring them back 5000 rounds at a time.

I know it's not our gunshops fault. I feel for them too. So if the price of lead is so high (can anyone think of a reason?) how does steel compare pricewise in target loads? Steel shot should be cheap. There is plenty of scrap steel to recycle so them trying to say it's costly because of raw material costs would be BS.

I'm gonna try some of those Kent steel target loads soon.
