Factory Rifle great groups

I just completed the barrel break in and did a base line accuracy test with a new R700 Milspec Gen 2 in .308 . The only addition was an MDT Elite muzzle brake . Rifle is completely stock . Fired three , 5 shot groups at 204 yards off a sandbag . -3C with an intermittent 5mph full value crosswind . For a baseline I used a handload built to US Military , Mark 316 Mod 0 sniper specs . 175SMK , FGMM brass , 210M , FL sized , 41.8gr IMR 4064 . Seated to SAAMI specs of 2.800 COAL ( .112 off the lands ) . Ave group size was .511 MOA .

What was the largest group and smallest, Thanks

Group sizes were .495 MOA , .528 MOA and .511 MOA . 5 shot groups at 204 yards . I fired one only 5 shot group at 100 yards and it was .432 MOA off a crappy , broken , Caldwell bipod .

I am not displeased , however , I suspect ( hope ) that better ammo will deliver better results . Time will tell I guess . The 175SMK bullet has never been super accurate for me at close range . It seems to do much better out at 600M or so , for whatever reason . We'll see how things go for me as I get more time with this rifle system and get to try different bullets / powder .

A friend of mine had the same 700 5r milspec 308. We put a 6.5-20 Leupold on it, got it on paper. Next he proceeded to shoot a 1” 3 shot group at 300 yards with factory federal power shock 150’s. Bone stock. They are great shooters.

Desert tech SRS A2 covert chassis with an A1 18" 338 lapua barrel.

Sighting in for hunting season at 100yds with factory hornady ammo, provided I did my part, it was putting bullets through the same hole so precisely I thought I was missing the target.

This was off the bench with a LRA bipod and a rear bag under the stock.Zeiss victory 6-24x56 mill dot scope in a sphur mount

100yds was the limit of the range and I barely got the chassis in time to be able to take it with me this year. More testing at longer ranges to come

I have similar success with a stock Steyr SSG-04

.36” 5-shots with Federal Gold Medal Match factory ammo!

I have two Steyr Prohunter rifles - one in .270 and another in 7mm RM and both rifles will make one large hole if I do my part.

Here was my first 4 shots I put through my 7mm (I bought it used) trying to sight in the glass @ 100yds
