Factory rifles and F Class

I'm sure this is covered somewhere here but I'm on my mobile and can't search. Is my sav m 12 left port considered factory class? If not would improving the chamber (223) be allowed in the class it's in now or would that move it to another class? Yes I'm being a pain but I'm bored out of my mind. Almost forgot, is Nosler brass any good?
 
If you are in BC, the factory class is 12lbs on the line. The LRPV's are too heavy unless you put your gear on a serious diet.

If you modify the chamber, you will be in F Open. At which point, there are many better options.

Nosler brass is decent stuff. Depending on the chamber Lapua and Win offer better value.

In BC it's a sporter calss meaning than rifles used in a sporting manor are eligible for that class. LRPV's, LTR's and the likes are considered "Target" and therefore would be classed either FTR or FO depending on cartridge.

I believe Ontario has a Factory class that you can use the LRPV's etc but maybe someone form that area can expand on that.
 
Depends on which model 12 and where you are shooting. Richard is correct: Single-shot, purpose-built "target rifles" such as the F-Class, Palma and BR models are excluded from factory class. LRPV may be too heavy weight-wise.

Why?....

In drafting the BC definition, it was my opinion (based on consultation with many shooters) these rifles are more than capable of holding their own in a sanctioned class, and the point of the factopry class was not to separate customs from factory guns, it was meant to allow those with sporting/hunting rilfes to compete against other rifles of similar capabilities. Savage Model 12's are a good rifle, and can produce match winning results.
 
I'll hijack this just a bit.. Is there somewhere I can find out about the different classes and their meanings/specs...

and I guess then the rules/ CoF in these matches.. I'm sorta interested..
 
Hijack away! I'm working and had a ? that I know how to find the answer to. I would have gone mental waiting till fri to get online with a computer. Thanks for the info gents. I was thinking of improving the chamber as it's abit rough. The brass is for that Stevens I've consulted with you in the past about Jerry. In the next few month I'm going to order a barrel in 300 RUM or 338 Edge. I'm having some trouble deciding. You know Lapua vs Edge vs RUM. I think I'm going with 300 RUM 28"-30" CM barrel to shoot 210 to 240 SMK's.
 
A 223 AI can be a wonderful fun cartridge especially if you have a twist fast enough to get the heavies moving out. But not the choice for F open given todays options.

For LR plinking, that is all I use these days vs the boomers that are sitting getting very dusty in the cabinet.

The 300RUM is a lot of fun and enjoyed my time with one.

Don't discount the 300WM either. With these 208/210's in a long barrel, getting to 3000fps is possible and way less cost and hassel then the bigger boomers. Adding another 100 or 200fps isn't going to change much when reaching out to a mile and beyond.

Everything slows down and drops like a stone way out there.

If the goal is more like the 240's then the RUM is very nice.

338's get the nod if you want to put a hurt on something. 300gr is alot of hurt and tangibly more impressive at distances like a mile vs any 30cal.

Decide on the action and budget, then decide on the cartridge. RUM/Edge/LM in a 338 are all very good and do basically the same thing.

Will be fun helping you put the rig together.
