Factory sealed tins spam cans and mylar bags

Just bought some .22lr SK magazine the other day. It came in a tin can. Pretty sweet for storage in ####ty conditions not that it should happen here.

Has me thinking more about buying more sealed ammo. I have some Ruag 5.56x45 that came in mylar bags I'm saving for a rainy day. I wish I bought more over 10 years ago.


Then there is the 7.62x39. I for some reason maybe the corrosive that I don't need it more then for plinking but an option.

5.56x45 federal in ammo cans is probably just as good for longer storage.


Don't get me wrong my ammo is locked up in a heated dry location. But for some reason my current interest is in buying it cheap and stacking deep, sealed up ammo.

Know of any 9mm options or anything not corrosive?

A while ago I bought 500 rounds of PPU Carcano which came vacuum sealed in high quality clear food plastic (not mylar). If you have a food saver or other vacuum sealer maybe try that and do your own. I know though, that when I've vacuum sealed whatever, I did find that the OEM bags / plastic tends to keep the vacuum much better than a cheap WxxMart alternative bag so I wouldn't go on the cheap for the bag.

As for mylar, there are likely a number of sources you could find - throw in a couple of oxygen absorbers and seal the mylar bag (even if not totally vacuumed) = might that work for you?

I am surprised given the political climate the last while that canned or tinned ammo isn't on the market.
