Failure to click - what could be the cause?

So I have a match grade 10/22 derivative with a bull barrel, adjustable match trigger etc. I was testing the rifle today (I recently got it) and got a few failure to fires using CCI minimags.

Now it ejects fine, but when there is a failure to fire, I pull the bolt back and out comes a round without a strike on the primer. And I believe there was no click when I pulled the trigger either.

I had it at the range a few days ago, and I didn't have the same problem. I only fired about 20 rounds a few days ago, and about 40 this time around. (so a total of 60 through the barrel since it was new).

So I'm thinking there could be 1 of 2 causes:
1. Is it possible that during semi-auto cycling that the bolt can go far enough back to eject the spent casing and chamber a new round but not prime the hammer/striker?
2. The adjustable trigger has a screw that adjusts how far back the trigger can go back - is it possible that I need to adjust the screw so the trigger pulls back a little further?

What do you think? Is there anything else I haven't considered? Thanks.
 
I would certainly try #2 before anything else. If the sear engagement is adjustable it is possible that it has been adjusted to so little that the hammer is following the bolt back down instead of the sear catching the hammer correctly at full ####.

Which trigger pack are you using?

I had a somewhat similar issue with my VQ TG2000 trigger... one of the springs were broken, and wouldn't reset the trigger. Try pushing the trigger 'forward' and see if that resets it...
 
The lack of a click or firing pin strike suggests that you're getting hammer follow. Especially if you can rack it manually and it cocks then fires that manually loaded round.

I ran into this with my Tactical Solutions X-Ring. For all that they make nice stuff they don't seem to know how to put their own parts together that well. The screw that sets the engagement of the interrupter that catches and holds the hammer until you release the trigger was not setting correctly due to a loose setting screw that had wondered in its hole. I degreased and set the screw back in and set the interrupter so it would catch and hold with a reasonable sear engagement and a reset point that wasn't stacked right on top of the sear break point and have not had an issue since then.

I have this rifle, and I don't know what you're talking about :-(

(but what you describe in your second sentence is what's happening to me)

I checked out a Ruger 10/22 trigger assembly video, but I don't see any screw, so I'm not sure what you're referring to. I'm using this video for reference:

Thanks for your explanation via PM. This rifle is amazing! It is extremely configurable so this issue can be configured right out by adjusting the reset set screw. Thanks BCRider!!
