Hi,
Went to Taccom yesterday and got to see many optics in real life that I've only read about on the internet.
Some of the optics exhibitors I visited:
Apex Optics
Vortex Optics
Tract Optics (10% off all models)
Athlon Optics
Schmidt and Bender (not on the list of the exhibitors but had a nice display in the Wolverine booth)
Night Force
Leupold (nice to see Leupold scopes IRL, seems that every store I frequent doesn't carry many of them)
Retail stores also had many scopes:
SFRC
Firearms Outlet (not many scopes but some good promotional deals 40% off select Bushnell optics and 20% off all other brands)
Rangeview Sports
Exhibitors were very friendly and some were experts like optical engineers, Spoke with Jon one of Tract's owners who was manning his booth himself.
Trends I saw, which I'm sure we are all aware off.
- Lots of big objective, big zoom, heavy weight scopes with tactical turrets and complex reticles at varying price ranges.
- Light weight sub 14oz 1 inch tube 2-7x 1.5-4(5), 2.5-8 are rare. They seem to have been replaced by heavier 30mm 20oz+ 1-4(6,8,10) LPVO, 2-10 or 2.5-10 scopes
- 3x9 is no longer king, been supplanted by 2.5-10 and 3-12 or 3-15
Had a great time, nice to finally see some of this stuff and ask questions like "Why is a 2-7X scope considered a 3X multiplier scope?"
Worth a visit if you are near Toronto.
Cheers
