Hey Guys. I have seen the pictures on the net of Spanish Mauser's having 20 round magazines on them. the only one I could find that had any info on it was a guy put an FAL Mag on his FR8. Just wondering if any of you have heard of any other type mags working as well? And if so can this be implemented without hurting the rifle or action?

Thanks in advance, The Big Tipper.

Flame! Flame! Flame!
Now that formalities are dispersed with, a gew trench mag conversion should fit. One of the cgn sponsors had them at one point but I can't remember who.

I think they used G3 magazines, not FN FAL. Spain invented the G3.

Actually, a "former" Nazi German, in Spain, brought the concept when he left the Fatherland in somewhat of a hurry and then repatriated it. :) Gotta agree on the mag. Makes sense. FAL mag is a a hook and click into place, while the CETME mag just inserts.

Is a flame a form of sacrilege? what are your thoughts on the FR8? and what price point would you put on one? if it were matching and in good working order?

There's no legal way, in Canada, to put a 20 round mag on a bolt action. Said mag is a prohibited device. In any case, putting one on an FR8 will require seriously altering the rifle.
The only real downside to an FR8 is that they were made to use standard 7.62 NATO. They used 7.62 x 51 CETME. A down loaded 7.62 NATO. Not a big deal if you're reloading. Just load a lighter bullet with lower velocities than a regular .308 Win load.
No idea what an FR8 is worth. Matching numbers doesn't apply, but condition does. They isn't any collector interest. It'd make a decent deer rifle though.

Wrong. You could design a new mag specifically for the bolt action, as mags designed for manual action firearms have no capacity limits, and are not prohibited. You could also use an existing bolt action mag and modify the gun to accept it.

Again wrong. Destruction testing on the FR rifles have shown they can withstand more than double the pressure of standard 7.62 NATO ammunition. Internet lore has perpetuated the CETME round myth. The literature and testing documents can be found online, but you have to wade through all the "it shoots the cetme round" garbage. That being said I shoot 7.62 NATO out of my FR7 and have no issue (not Norc ammo) but I don't shoot 308

Fr7 where apparently produced in lower numbers than the FR8. And yes, their are those out their with several in their milsurp collections. An oddball mauser example. FR7s and FR8s have been prided in the 450 to 600 range on the EE. Saw an FR7 at a show last year for $250.
