Falcon 4-14 FFP opinions

so i know this will be one of those topics thats been beaten to death.. like bumpfire stocks and "are AKs legal in canada?"

but i just want opinions from those that have them..

Falcon 4-14 FFP optics..

how are they?

-hold zero?
-reticle accurate?
-FFP effective/Accurate ?
-too heavy?
-clicks accurate and repeatable?

hold zero = yes
reticle accurate = seemed to be, but was mismatched to the turrets
too heavy = nope
clicks accurate = yes.


now some not on your list:

was it reliable = nope, magnification ring stopped working.
how was the warranty process = damn slow, like 3 month wait.



personally, I would spend a few more bucks and look at a Vortex PST or Viper HS LR or even a Weaver Tactical (if you can find one)

I was mainly attracted by the Mil/Mil setup and FFP ... no more spinning dials .. too good to be true obviously

-hold zero? Yes but mine is mounted an a 6,5X55

-reticle accurate? yes if tou take turrets matching(mil)

-FFP effective/Accurate ? yes but reticule gets fat at high magnifications

-too heavy? about same weight of others (same tube diameters and power)

-clicks accurate and repeatable? yes but clics are soft and turrets are easy to turn

lens are better than a tasco, but are far behind nikon or leupold
at high magnification, it gets a little milky and eye relief is harder to get


supposed to handle recoil of a 338LM, but I would' try it on mine

does it worth its money, I think yes

would I buy another one if needed, definitely yes

I had the 5-25x56 FFP mil/mil and well, you get exactly what you pay for!

Turrets were sloppy and didnt come close to passing the box test, reticle was spotted. Thing was HEAVY though, which is a good thing. If you've only got $600 and need FFP then yeah sure, but otherwise, spend the extra coin and get a Vortex or Better yet, SWFA.

Yes absolutely. The Vortex is lovely and I'd be the first guy to recommend it if they had their stuff together with the turrets.


The Vortex turrets may track true, but it cannot pass a box test (I've tried 2 PSTs). The SWFA has no issues with this which is why I won't go back to Vortex unless it's for a 4-16 (SWFA doesn't make these yet).

Falcon's warranty sucks...the website says lifetime warranty but what they don't say is that they've only been doing that for the last 18 months or so. Basically if you don't have a receipt, you don't have a warranty. This is a huge deal when you can spend a little more to buy a Vortex or Leupold and get a better scope and hassle free warranty. Resale value is definately affected.

I have a couple of the 4-14x ffp Falcon scopes with ML16 reticle. Of the Falcon scopes this is my favourite model. Single piece, 94% light transmission and FFP with a NF NP-R1 clone reticle. I use them on my semi auto accuracy 10-22 rifles along with a Ruger target model.

The only bad things I can say about them are that the light transmission at 94% while good isn't up there with the 95% of scopes with very good glass, also the turret knobs are sloppy and with the 22LR rifles I have noticed a touch of parrallax when dialed in and shooting 20 yards at 14x. I'll be checking into this last part as it may just be that I didn't have the scopes focussed properly before using the parrallax adjustment. With 14x at 20 yards this stuff will show up.

Overall they are decent. They have their uses. For anything more serious though I would spend more money.
