I'm looking for an inexpensive 1-4x scope for my AR to use in CQB matches and later on maybe some Service Rifle. I've narrowed it down to either the Falcon Menace, Millet DMS or Hi-Lux CMR.

What do you guys think? I've read Hungry's review on the Falcon so I know that's a good option but what about the other two?

Also, will I be able to use regular rings on these or will I need something like Burris PEPR mount?

Falcon Menace will work. So will the Millet; the FM has better adjustment knobs. Not familiar with the third option.
FM and Millet have 30mm tubes. You can use a riser and rings.

Not sure about the others, but I had the falcon menace and got rid of it because I felt like the eye relief was short. But it was my first 1-4x and only my second scope, so I'm no expert

I have both the Falcon Menace in 1.5-5 and the CMR 1-4 and they are both good choices.
I also mount both in Burris AR-PERP in 30mm, as it helps put the scopes further forward for much better relief.

Thanks. Can you comment on the differences? Does one have a reticle you prefer? I'm assuming both centre dots are 1 MOA?

The falcon centre dot may be up to a quarter of a mil in size if that much. It is a cross hair scribed every two mils. The centre circle is some eight mils diameter. There are twenty mils right, left and below the crosshair. The actual centre covers very little at all.

Check it out above, don't forget to take the space between the www out.

The CMR has a one moa centre dot with some 25 mil left and right of centre. It also has a simple rangefinder similar to an ACOG. Plot the horizontal bars upon the targets should gives you a rough range and shoot. It works for a lazy shooter like me. Check it out at the link below. Again, close the space between the www before you try. I hope I don't accidently hotlink.
