Fall Turkey Hunt?!

This year there is a fall Turkey hunt in my neck of the woods. I'm excited but how exactly do you hunt Turkey's in the fall??? Can't call them, can't bait them.........how about stocking????
 
What area are you hunting ?
I bagged a young tom last fall by calling in a troop of tom/jakes with a pair of fighting purr calls (Knight&Hale)...no deeks
The "kee-kee run" call should work as well . Thats the call they make after a flock has been busted up and the kee-kee is their locater, "come to me" call.


I'll scout the same method as I do in spring.
Last falls season showed me that they can be pretty noisy at first light , ( thats why I decided on the fighting purr calls ) , so my pre-season scouting will be at that time of day. I'll get out and sit about an hour before sunrise. All I need is to hear them and I know where they are ( roosting)...then I'm outta there , before I get busted.
 
or you can try ( i dunno if it will work), bust up the birds in different directions, set up, and call them back. so says OOD magazine.
 
Pick up a good book, my wife bought me and amazing turkey hunting book with full color pictures. Oh Ya!

But it says the most common way to hunt fall turkeys is to find their roost, head in in the morning and bust them up. No need for calls or decoys and they come back to the same spot more often then not.

Might take a few hours tho.
 
In the US they use a specially trained dog to bust up the flock, and then they wait,and call, to get them to get back together. You can try to google Turkey trot acres in the US, they may have some info for ya.

I'll be hunting the east side of Brant County.

Im in the same area and seen lots of turkey today on my way home at my hunting spot. This will be my first fall hunt for turkey and from what i was planing on doin was setting up my trail camera on the area i see them and see what time they are in the area and then figure something out from there but I also read that busting up the flock and calling them back is a good way in doin it.
 
The turkeys around my place seem to roost and feed in the same area all the time. I plan on setting up between the two and ambushing them. This is my second time hunting turkey (first was this spring). I will post pics if I'm successful.
