Hi everyone: I am a new this year turkey hunter. Did not get my bird this spring, had a tom hold up about 50 yds and did not take the shot. Been working on shotgun and loads and so far have a good combination to now take that shot. Shotgun is patterned good to 50 yds and a little beyond that.
Can anyone give a new turkey hunter some fall hunting pointers?
Thanks in advance.

I find the deer trails that the birds us to come and go from the bush ,then set up a hide near and ambush them as thy come and go .no calls or decoys needed .pretty simple .Dutch

You find a flock, try and get as close as possible to them and bust them up that they fly in all directions or scatter. setup close to the bust up point and sit still and quiet and listen. When you hear the birds start to call back to each other start to use fall calls like the Kee-Kee and Kee-Kee-Run , assembley call and lost yelping. Do not over call but rather have they answer you and get ready on the closes bird that returns. This can be tough because sometimes they come together in different spots at the same range.

Biggest mistake is to start calling to early into the hunt. Wait them out to start calling first...
