Are these an invasive species on Vancouver island?

Update.

Looks like the dear have invaded 1-1 to 1-7, no bag limit and no species license required!

What are the few Islands you know about?
Do you have access to the land that these deer roam on?
Curious to your source of information.
Rob

BCWF/Gov't BC CORE material states they have been introduced on James and Sidney Islands (and are also farmed elsewhere)

James is privately owned. Sidney pretty much all is a private strata owned by Sallas Forest Strata Corporation (except one section which is a Marine Park)
Being bored I looked up James Island. Interesting - used to have a large CIL plant on it making explosives (900 tonnes per month at one point). That is part of the reason the private owner could not develop it.....

Also Saturna and Mayne. Mayne is no hunting at all, and Saturna is all private or park. There are a few grandfathered cull permits but neither are open to public hunting.

And Mr McCaw is having a hard time flipping his utopia for $75million.
Was hoping to turn it into private residents , but didnt recon the industrial clean up would be an issue.
Trying to blame IVI/CIL for lack of remediation back in the day.(1977 standards)
The Fallow Deer numbers have dropped on Sydney when the Island Trust had them culled by trap and other methods.
Yes, there are deer their , but the numbers are way smaller than back in the early 90's.
Been there done that and it was fun.
The Provicial Park is open to the Natives at their pleasure iirc.
Curious where the Grandfathered Cull Permit info came from?
Mayne is another tightly controlled Island that frowns upon the cull of the local deer... there was a concerted effort to bring a full scale slaughter house(mobile) to the rock, but the Island Outrage shut it down before the ink dried on the paper.
These are not Granola munchers or pot heads, but rather Lawyers, Doctors and other well to do folks.
Some have lived there for 5 years and others for 70 years.
The RCMP now have to come from South Pender Island.
Ferry Service runs daily, but can be an adventure if your not prepared.
If one must hunt the Gulf Islands there is a Special Area License to buy too.
It doesnt guarantee one will be granted permission to hunt on the Islands that are open to hunting during a lawful game season.

I love Fallow Deer, on the Island of Australia we have heaps!
it is coming into the Rut, a very warm and dry summer heading into autumn, temps are still high an dry so I expect a later Rut in April sometime!

bucks are rubbed out of Velvet now an beginning to spereate from bachelor herds.
