I recently spent the not inconsiderable sum of money to get a 542. i love how the gun looks and feels and it is accurate, and worked great up until recently. its an older green stocked version. overall other than the little bit of rattle and the absolute insane price gouging on magazines i love the gun. last range trip i couldn't get through a single mag without a FTE. very frustrating on a low round count gun. the internals seem fine to me but i am wondering if anyone has experienced this and if anyone can recommend a repair. google is very stingy on information for these things. i have access to a mill and a lathe and a welder and a considerable amount of determination to get my $3500 investment running well again
Edit: have tried multiple ammo brands, grains and velocitys, and gun is cleaned and lubricated after every range day, and used both gas settings
