Hey fellas, just wanted to let you know that I managed to mount an (i beleive) "champion" pivot bipod to my Famae 542. I only had to remove a couple nuts and the piece that clamps to sling studs. I was then able to feed a bolt that was on the bipod through the mount on my rifle and use one of the nuts and washers to secure it. All was done with a pair of needle nose pliers.
It feels sturdy and hopefully will be a reliable way to mount non famae bipods to your rifle. I will field test it and let you know how it holds up to recoil.
