Hey guys. Just looking for some feed back in the latest Famae SG-540-1M rifle.

Looking for fit/finish, reliability, accuracy, etc. Pictures would be great too.

I’ve been contemplating replacing my Bren2 with one possibly.

Don't do it. The Bren is a far more advanced platform with a better Barrel (Cold-Hammer -Forged), superior ergonomics (Bolt Release in Trigger Guard), less perceived recoil, and more. The Bren2 is also a 50-year newer design, with use of advanced synthetics (Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymer), and metallurgy. Don't take a step back in time unless you dig disco shoes, in which case the Famae SG rifles may he for you! With the newer Famaes you will have to embrace that Buttstock Retention Post designed to thwart underhanded Bolt Carrier manipulation by tearing open hands!

It was a Meh for me, the OG with the plastic hand guard is better IMO, the folding stock nub absolutely wrecks the manual of arms for the gun. No underhanded racking the slide unless you want to rip your finger off. Very poor design IMO.

Rails on the front were super sharp. Fit and finish have definitely gone down hill since the OG version.

Mechanics were strong though. and if you filed off that stock nub, filed down the rails so they weren't so sharp it could be a pretty nice gun.

My only regret of selling it was the manual of arms is very AK like which was fun. The gun is definitely not worth $3500 though. If it was $2000 I'd of kept it.

Agree with Mark, once the Bren comes out NR I'm getting one.

If you want an AK style manual of arms get the Type 81, at least the mags aren't $130

It's like comparing a 1990 Mustang GT with a 2020 version of the same car. They're both nice, but the newer one is FAR more advanced.... as others have said the ergonomics and overall design of the Bren2 is far superior. Having owned both, if I had to pick one, it would be Bren2 in a heartbeat.

Currently have the new model Famae. It is a sweet gun if your into the AK type manual of arms. The side folding stock nub is awful though. Lose a finger awful. The front rail could use some edge clean up but rail covers help. If it ever goes to the gun smith to have the stock locking post taken off then I’ll have the rail edges rounded off too. It’s pretty front heavy on the non restricted version. The ACR stock would help this. The Bren 2 will be a more advanced gun in terms of handling but there’s just something about racking that AK-esque action that keeps you there. 3500$ worth is a bit spendy for it though.

Even if the Bren and Famae were equals, bren magazines are $20 vs $100+ for famae magazines that are only available in small amounts

I enjoy my cold war style 540, but I'm stuck in the past

Made one for the buffer tube yesterday.
Tested 60 rounds with it, and nothing broke so far.
