I just noticed Bulls Eye London has the FAMAE SG542-1 on sale at 2119.99 which is still pricey, but less than everywhere else I've looked. Does anyone have any experience with this gun? Is it worth the money? Any recommendations of another .308 (or similar caliber) semi that might be cheaper?

Thanks!

FN FNAR. There is one on EE.

Re: SG542, it's right about there at 2K for what you are getting. Unless you are willing to play chinese lottery with M305. Some of them 1 MOA rifles and some have crooked front sights.

Good price for sure. I paid 2400 with a scope mount.

Sounds like a good deal. I enjoy shooting mine. Don't expect it to be a precision rifle. I've shot 4 inch groups at 225 yards with iron sights. Good enough for me lol. It's very easy to field strip and clean. I would recommend picking one up, expecially at that price

Just looked at the cost of spare magazines for this incredible gun, $189.99 each?!!! Did I get that right? At Bullseyes. Are there other compatible magazines for this rifle?
I don't think there are other compatible magazines. I picked up a couple last summer from Calgary Shooting Centre and they were not that much...maybe a bit more than $100? Still pricey, but more manageable.

Yes.

No.

If magazines are that much there's no ****ing way I'm buying the gun. Nope. Just crushed the 5XX line of rifles for me. STANAG, Vz, or AK mags for me I guess.

IIRC they do make a STANAG conversion for the guns. Not sure how well it works, you should look into it.

They make STANAG conversion for the .223 chambered guns. The magwell on the .308 version is too narrow to accept a .308 AR mag.

These guns are just to pricey for what you get. They are trying to piggy-back off the Swiss Arms prices; only problem is that these guns just aren't the same quality. I don't doubt that they are fine rifles, but just to much $$. The 540's have a mag conversion, so I can imagine that someone out there with some engineering skills could put together something so that this rifle could accept .308 PMags. That would just about justify the cost of the rifle then.

They are high quality (at least the 308 I have), just not as high as swiss arms. At 3K, yes, pricey. At 2.1K right about there (for me personally), also don't forget 1.3 USD exchange rate, these rifles came in when dollar was on par.

It looks like dealers are getting rid of them as they don't sell well due to overpriced accessories.
