Famae

ah yes, i eventually found an old post where someone confirmed such w ere. i wonder if the promag aa700 mags might work - single feed lips at the top and a wee bit narrower but still m1a-style (no op rod guide hole and no hold-open as for bolt action but still fit an m1a). even if they fit would still require an anti-tilt follower to work properly though ...

Impossible. Stamped metal rifles need way too many dedicated dies and fixtures to make, and human or robotic wielding - not very agile from the manufacturer stand point and all the investment is tied up to that particular setup. I would rather have a few CNC millings stations to make aluminum guns and the machines can make something else or sold off when not needed.

Even if FAMAE gave away all the fixtures and dies, which they won't, it has no market outside of Canada. The entire EU can get Swiss arms, why would they buy FAMAE? Unless an American company picks it and decides to make collectibles.

Stamping does require greater start up costs, but once settled in it usually has lower per unit costs once the break even point for the machinery is reached. Also a stamped receiver can usually be replaced by a milled receiver.

Also, it would be SIG granting a license. FAMAE manufactures the 540 and 542 under license from SIG, so they can't issue a license.

Super interested in these rifles, anybody that owns one care to give a thumbs up or thumbs down? Been wanting one for years but have never met anyone who’d own or even shot one?

I had big issues with the . 308 one. Super picky on ammo, fixed stock kicks you in the face.

With good ammo 2.5 moa was hard ask...

Folding stock version wa much more pleasant to shoot

The only ammo my 542 doesn't like is Chinese copper washed stuff. The fixed stock does kick like a mule as well

What's the typical accuracy you can get from your 542 with a military ball ammo like LC or Hirtenberger? And with match grade ammo like FGMM?

Are there any 540's in stock anywhere, new used, black, green, pink? I've been looking for a few weeks for one, and haven't been able to find one anywhere including EE.

I've never actually measured my groups before, nor have I shot match grade ammo with it. Shooting from either prone or off of my knee i can hit 8 inch gongs at 250 meters with iron sites and surplus ammo. That's good enough for me
