Yeah I don't know about the mag. It came with it and I don't know if it works or not. It came with the standard mag too. The mag fits the rifle and holds 7.62X39. It sounds like you guys know more about it than me. It seems to be thinner than the mags I've seen. Haven't test driven it yet. No import marks, relatively clean in used condition. Couldn't say "no" even though I was planning on buying another russian. Cheers
I think you're right with the mag being .223. I tried a few .223 into it and they fit better than the X39! Now to see if it works(with X39) or not?

No, I scored a regular D with a goofy mag LOL. It fits but function is unknown. Now I need a bigger house let alone a larger cabinet not to mention a regular AK mag. Cheers

Are you sure you didn't score a Type 84 D model in 5.56?

IIRC, one model had a paratrooper length barrel and a funny little hold open device on the bolt carrier.

I think it would be really rare if you had one of those 5.56mm babies.

How can somebody sell a strictly "prohibited" rifle mag(as far as i know..AK74) for that price? There must be a misprint! That's the price of some rifles! I'm quite sure this "D" is 7.62X39 but thanks for making me feel like I stumbled onto something;) I'll give her a whirl tomorrow. You in for the RANGE curtton ?. Cheers. PS.. D's are always interesting in their fashion of manufacturing!

No, that mag was for the Chinese type 84 AK and SKS-D in 5.56mm, it isn't the same as a metal AK-74 mag.

It is waaaay overpriced.

Have fun with your rifle, and good luck finding the proper mag for it.

I would save that one if I were you. It might make for a useful trade some day.

OK which type of mag is presently in my D and which type is curtton talking about? Is it the proprietary chinese answer to the .223, or the regular AR round? On a sadder note...This was my first family. Sadly,.... mostly........all gone:(

This is a link to a picture of a Chinese Type 84S AK with your mag.

Here are some comparisons:

Because it does not have the protruding rib down it's back, it's a dead giveaway that it is a Chinese mag.

Do you still have that five round mag in the picture?
