I've had an M14 on hold at Epps and wasn't sure if I should buy it since I need to put some money into my Jeep. I went up today planning on buying an SKS instead. Once I got up there and stared at the 2 side by side I said farq it and bought the M14. Will take some pics soon!

Exellent choice. SKS is fun but the 14 is by far the better toy. Plus the resale value is great and if for whatever reason no more can get here (heaven forbid) it may be worth a small fortune :p

I've lost count of the times I've went into a gun store for a jag/ brush or box of ammo and came out with a new rifle or handgun. One of lifes little treats.....:beerchug:

I just bought a #1 mk. III on my scholar line of credit.

It's for learnin', I tell ya!

:D

Definitely for learnin', first thing to learn is what your gonna buy next week! ;)

I was playing with one of those the other day that had been sitting in my safe for a while. It was "sporterized" of course, but had nice metal. It sat neglected for a long time as I kept getting distracted by other projects, so I offered it for sale cheap on the board last fall in case someone wanted to restore it or at least take it out shooting. No takers so it sat waiting for my attention.

I had a weaver rail installed (hey - I gave you guys a chance to save it from mare attention from Bubba!) and played with it a bit. I want to try it some more to be sure it wasn't a fluke, but this 88 year old unit was sticking 3 round groups of factory ammo into less than an inch at 100 yards!

I can't wait to have some more time and shoot a few 5 round groups etc to be sure it wasn't more than luck. But I'm impressed!

And back on topic - good choice on the M305! I love mine, and I think the sks is a great deal for shooting lots cheap, but it seems on average people get more passionate about the m14s. Hopefully it's because it's a great rifle, not just because we're a bunch of twisted freaks that should be getting passionate with the women in our lives instead. :D
