Good friend did some pretty fine shooting at 300y with a gun he had made up By a western smith who did a fine job
I watched him shoot this group, many might say he fired over target not 5 shots but this guy wouldn,t do anything like that, he's as straight in life as he is shooting.
Rem 700 s/a .223 long throat,Remington bedded laminated stock, jewell trigger, Leupold 30mm 8.5 to 25x off a bipod & back rest
your thoughts on this group extreemly rare or should be expected ? anyone know markings on barrel ?
This was measured with benchrest target calipers with 224,6mm & 30cal centers, > .530"

Mick does really nice work so there is nothing wrong with the build. The barrel is also a good one.

The key is what will the barrel AVERAGE under nice calm air? Say 6am, no wind, no mirage, before the third cup of coffee calm- fire a few 5rds groups and get an average.

I have shot a few hummer groups but the average was a bit larger. Still really good but not cloverleaf good. Just shot a cloverleaf 200yd group this morning during testing. Felt real good. Will have to reconfirm but will be happy if it averages 1/2" or under.

Looks like you are off to a great start. There is nothing inaccurate about the 223 and my smallest group at 200yds was shot by one.

Just watch the air. Cause it will not take much to bounce you around. Now you have the challenge of driving as well as the rifle will shoot :)

Golf balls at 600yds?

Hi Jerry group shot with your bullets Bergers

Mick did the work but he does not make 223 barrels. You will not find a finer precision gun-builder nor a stronger proponent of a gun based on a trued remington action.
