favorite 223 powder for 45 - 75 gr bullets?

Bullet, barrel twist and length aren't specified as well as intended use so hard to give an answer. All the noted powders will work as well as many others. Everyone makes a .223 powder or two. My best powder in my heavy 22" barrel with a 1-9 twist with a 60 grain FBSP is IMR8208XBR followed by CFE223. For HPBT 55 grainers Varget also performs well. Varget is my go to powder for those 50 grain Varmint Grenades. I don't shoot the 75 grain VLD's but since they are right on the edge of stability in my rifle I would go with the powder that gave me the best muzzle velocity to compensate for the slower twist rate. In this case it would be Varget or H4895.

sorry if I'm crashing the party, but grabbing/adding info from an already successful thread :)
i went through 2 pounds of varget last night, so thinking of trying the h4895 as I grabbed 8# of it a couple of weeks ago
thoughts on it and 55gr campro thru a 11.6 Colt mrr?

thanx

69 gr Lapua Scenars fly like lazers in my 8 twist Tikka Varmint. I was using AA2230 till I ran out. Had some Varget on hand so I tried it...stellar performance again !
I started messin with the Hornady 75 and 80 gr A-max with Varget..24.4 gr with WSR primers...again awesome awesome..groups. This rifle is not real fussy..lol. Just put together 250 rds of these bullets along with some Berger 73 OTM's. Same powder amount as it falls into that same category...waiting now for a good range day to kill some dastardly paper !! annnd to check out and play with my new Garmin XERO chrony...happy..happy..happy !!

In my bolt guns I've shot more 75 grain than any other bullet weight. It is also my preferred for serious work in my semi auto's. For the bolt guns i only use Varget. It's not the fastest or the ###iest, but it works across all temp ranges and is the most accurate combination i have found.

For the auto's i use 8208xbr or the now unavailable D8208 that the now defunct CanadaAmmo used to sell. Meters better in progressives and provides more velocity. It's gets spikey quick tho, so you have to load up carefully and watch for pressure.
