favorite .22lr ammo

Winchester Power Points. Tough to find in stock, but I buy as much as I can when I find it. XLRPP on the box, I think... super deep hollowpoint, and really whacks the gophers but good!

It's the most accurate ammo for my 10/22 (aftermarket .920 barrel).

Depends on which of my many 22 rimfires I happen to be using. For casual plinking with the mossbergs, Dynapoint is hard to beat, but PMC Moderator is very accurate at modest ranges. The 541's like two or three types of target ammo + an old lot of PMC Zapper unplated HV stuff that I am hoarding. Lest anyone think that this stuff doesn't shoot, I have twice won 100 meter benchrest matches with it.
The 581's both like T22 and dynapoint, and several other brands give great "plinking" accuracy. 22 Rimfires are still the best "bang" for your buck out there, and give one an inexpensive way to hone the shooting skills. Regards, Eagleye.

It depends what I am going to use the ammo for.

For target practice, I like Lapua Super club, Lapua Midas L, Lapua Master L, Eley tenex, ect. For hunting, I like CCI velocitors and winchester powerpoints.

Those 525 round federal bulkpacks from Canadian Tire are nice and cheap and are copper washed hollowpoints. They seem to be pretty good for plinking. American eagle ammo isn't too bad either. When I want something a little nicer I get some CCI subsonics or federal 40 grn copper washed solids.

My S&W model 41 likes the CCI Blazer. I bought those at CT. in Richmond and Cambie in Vancouver. My S&W is very picky but she likes those. I hope I could buy more. Anybody knows where I can buy some in Lower Mainland B.C.. Thanks.

Just a warning if you guys ever see "Swartklip" ammo Stay the hell away. Their shot shells are good but I have had a couple of bricks of that stuff in 22lr and one in 10 shells where duds!

Very rifle and application specific.

For my CZ 452 I get amazingly tight groups with Lapua Super Club. I use these for target shooting.

For my Remington 597 I use plain Remington High Velocity rounds. Solids for targets and hollow points for rabits. Both give the best accuracy for this rifle.

Occassionally, I'll use Federal Hyper Velocity for some hunting. These aren'y overly accurate in any of my rifles but they'll cut a starling in half.

I notice nobody has mentioned Remington's 'Thunderbolt' ... picked some up for plinking (on sale) and it has got to be the dirtiest most unreliable .22LR I've ever fired. Tonnes of primer-struck duds (3 different guns). I really like Remington's 22 Subsonic - if you can get it to cycle your action.

I've been hard-pressed to discern any difference between Winchester's T22 and the cheaper 'Wildcat 22' ($0.05 vs. $0.03 / round). The T22 is rated at 100fps less muzzle velocity than the T22, but in a pistol it's not tangible. I'll be buying lots more of the Wildcat in bulk (Lebaron's has it).

Stingers and Yellow Jackets are fun to shoot - the Stingers are almost double the price of the yellow-jackets, and of course cannot be used in a 'match' chamber due to the extra long casing.

The American Eagle branded 'Federal' ammo is $0.02 / round less than the Federal Game-Shok (and it appears to be the same stuff).

Of course... the most expensive 22LR ammo isn't going to break anybody's piggy bank.
