All the favorite this and threads going... that got me thinking: What do you guys (or gals) prefer to use to carry your shotshells?

For me, it's either of these two... And since small-games hunting season is just around the corner, they just got their yearly waxing :)

For years I had a beautiful saddle stitched waxed leather shotshell belt from Eddie Bauer, sold back in the days when they were an actual high end outdoor company. I think I must have bought it at their big store at the corner of Bloor and Yonge in Toronto, but anyway got it on sale and it was always a bit tight on me (not an entirely bad thing considering the weight) and after about 20 years stopped fitting me at all. Actually, I've lost some weight myself since retiring and will have to dig it out and try it on again. It was good because I carried an assortment of shells and despite the fact that it was very secure i could always see what I was grabbing.

Found this photo on an online auction site, I can see that the quality of leather isn't quite as good as mine though.

Those were the days. Eddie Bauer sure has changed.

For shell belts i have a real nice leather one but i more prefer my beretta game cartridge belts. I have 12 20 and 28. Still looking for the 410 version
Generally i wear a game vest which holds my shells. I also have use cartridge carriers of 10 and 25 shells that go on my belt.

I have a leather 20ga belt but find it heavy and I never do need that ammo on hand. I prefer an old surplus gas mask bag with a few extra shells, some water and treats for the dog and I.

Second from left is my fave ammo belt. You can't go wrong with a proven classic. :p

I actually have the Eddie Bauer stitched leather version of one of those as well, holds a full 2 boxes of 12 G shells, ie, 50. They basically intended it for their customers to carry that many shells into a blind or duck boat. If used in active shooting, the swaying of that much weight is enough to throw you off balance enough to make accurate shooting difficult to impossible, but you sure do have a lot of ammo. And you can do a passable imitation of a Mexican bandito.
