Was sighting one in today and it seemed to like the CCI standard ammo best. Not as accurate with Fed or Rem HP's.......anyone have any suggestions. Pest and grouse gun.

Ruger 1022s are not picky, they'll fire just about anything with the exception of sub-sonic ammo possibly. Stand veleocity and up should be fine. Accuracy will vary and if this is a concern, CCI Standard or CCI Mini-Mags should be a good starting point.

I like to use CCI Blazer as it seems to have a consistent charge for bulk ammo. I have sporter rifles which i generally plink with so save the Standard Velocity for my CZ Varmint although they do work with it. I have also recently picked up some Browning bulk ammo. Its not really the best but goes bang in my 10/22s

If it likes CCI Standard Velocity, it should equally like the CCI Subsonic HP as it's the hollow-point version of the same round. Great hunting round -- accurate and consistent expansion.

I own only 1 semi-auto (DLASK TUF22 9" TD).
So far it hasn't been picky with any of the cheap bulk ammo I have (although I haven't tried sub-sonics yet).
I didn't buy it for accuracy (I have my bolts for that) but to chase golf ball sized targets inside 50yrds out in the field it's been a fun gun.....

Mine's not too picky. I use CCI Blazer for plinking and Mini Mags for hunting. Sub-sonic target ammo may not cycle the action reliably - other than that, I'd say the ammo you use depends on what your target is. If it's a beer can in the back yard, cheap bulk ammo will cycle fine.

My first 10/22 really liked the Blazer ammo, and rarely jammed. The American Eagle jammed constantly.
I have been shooting the Blazer in my RSI and it is working just fine with open sights. Will need to run a comparison now that it is scoped to see what it really preferes.
I use the Quiet ammo in my 69A for grouse. Very accurate in that rifle. Had worried that it wouldn't provide enough velocity to reliably run in the 10/22 so never tried it.

There is a lot of variation in American made ammo. There is in Match grades too.
What functions in one rifle may not in another.
One of my 10/22's is used for speed steel for fun. A McGowan barrel was a problem for ejection so back to the factory barrel.
Federal is not its friend but CCI SV, Blazer, Thunderbolt and MiniMags all function the action. When they show function issues it is time to clean.
The other has a Kidd trigger kit and a Dlask barrel for target shooting at 100 Metres. This rifle performs best with Eley Match Biathlon.
This rifle would probably be my choice for gophers using Blazer.

I have had great results with SK Long Range Match. Functions perfectly and is seriously accurate. Its a 40 grain solid lead bullet but accurate enough that a grouse head at fifty yards is very easy. If I need to blow things up I just use one of my Mach2s or a 17HMR

By now guys, you should know that no two gun like the same ammo. The only way to find the best- most accurate ammo is to test as many of them.

A brand working well in one gun can shoots so so in another gun of same type. In my book, that kind of post is useless..no shortcut..you have to go out and test.

My Dlask Tuf 22 prefers CCI 40g Minimags. 0.6" at 50 yards off the bench with a 1x6 PA.

It cycles everything well though I haven't run Thunderbolts through it as they were sticky in my old 10/22.

I think most realize the accuracy side and lot testing required for accuracy. I think this was more about reliable cycling/functionality than accuracy but thanks for reminding those unaware about accuracy not being brand or gun specific. See this wasn’t a useless post! Cheers

Echoing the above poster's results using my 10/22 Competition.
