Favorite Antique Revolver BARREL Length??

Whats your prefered barrel length on a Antique Revolver.
I Have some 4 inch ones right up to 10 inch.
Theses will be 45 Caliber (455/476 and or 45 Schofield Capable revolvers.)

Lets say there on a DA 1878 or a SAA Colt!

so 4 inch or anything up to 10 inchs long.

This is for Shooters of the old guns Not picky Collectors.

I like the look of the shorter 4 inch as most orignal guns were 4 and 3/4,
the 4 inch with special shorter Ejectors looks fricken Wicked.

Theses are gona be some wicked looking shootin irons but its hard to decide.
most guys for bush packing likr 5.5 or 6 inch.

That is a tough question for me. From a pure looks and feeling perspective, I love the long 8" barrel on my S&W 2nd Model. To me, it gives the feeling of the old West, before the shorter barrels became more in vogue. From a practical perspective, it's my 5.5" Colt SAA. I like to practice fast draw and shoot and that 5.5" comes up, out and forward in one quantum shift. If push came to shove and I had to pick just one, I'd probably go with the 5.5" Colt, because it still looks great and is also more practical.

I like a 6" barrel,give er take...got some heft but not real long and clumsy...

i like them under 4" make's them prohibited, but antique. i say it make's them a little more cool.

Depends on the gun...

...personally, on the 78's I like something between 6 and 7". the 5 1/2" seems just a bit short for my liking.

...although Ive seen a couple of shopkeepers with the short 3 1/2"...what a mean looking little bugger.
