I've thought of doing this in the past but was reluctant to do so because of the ridge I felt that would be left in the neck/shoulder junction. Do you think this would be a problem.
Or, is it feasible to simply take the decapping pin/mandrel out of a FL die and use that as a body die?
Before anyone asks "why not just use the FL die as intended", because I'd like to avoid dragging a sizing button back out through case necks.
The better way to go is to run the bushing die without a sizing button (they all come w that option) which allows you to size the neck down just enough without the use of an expander ball.
How did they turn out. Was there a ridge left where the shoulder starts. Which end did you drill from..
I bought the best drill bit available, use a late and went in very slowly from the top side of the die. I also used heat to get the temper out of the neck section of the die. No signs of burrs when I resize the brass!
