Thought I'd run a poll to see what everyones favorite is. I'm partial to the '06 as it's easy to load, lots of bullet selection, reduced recoil loads are still very accurate, and brass lasts a long time in the bolt guns.
The 7.5x55 is pretty nice too, uses standard .308 bullets, .284 winchester brass can be used to form cases just by running them in the FL die, the fatter case and sharper shoulder make for an accurate cartridge.
***I had an "Other" poll option but it didn't post.....grrrr :x ***

I'm partial to the 06 as well.
However to be fair I also like the .303 and 6.5x55.
The only ones on the list that I haven't used are the 6.5 Carcano and the 8x56R.

8x57 is my favourite milsurp cartridge. Mostly because I have about 4k of it kicking around. 8)

I shoot a lot more 7.62x54r than any other right now though.

303 Brit for me. Powerfull and accurate but I'd say the only downfall is the lack of variation in bullet types available for re-loading.

well its not there but .30 Carbine its compact low recoil very controlable when shooting fast semi or FA (tried it in the U.S)

plus the fact i own over 30 m1 carbines!

I have to vote for the .303, mainly because its the only round that fits in all my enfields  Considering that enfields were made in 1888 chambered for the .303 round, I think the .303 round might also be the oldest on the list too,

But I know that someone will correct me if I'm wrong

My fav is the .303brit , mostly because it's been a Longbranch No.4 that I've used for deer hunting and target range shooting for soooooo long. It's actually part of my life...lol

For "variety " I also hunt with a Win.94 lever(32win spec.) and a good ol' 12ga slugger.

This was a tough one for me, I love the .303 British cartridge but I had to take the 30-06 over it because my M1 is my favorite milsurp.

7.62x54R baby! just to be different...but really, what other cartridges are still in military service at 110 years of age? and rimmed at that! plus, the fact they still use it means thier'll be lots of it around for some time *knock on wood*. Cant complain about the price either, as I dont reload
