Hi,

I'd like to get some sort of feel as to what your favorite powder is for the 300 Win. Mag. I'll be shooting mainly 165-180 gr. and accuracy is more important than velocity. So far, I've only used 760, and I don't get close to factory ammo accuracy with it.

I've used both H4831SC and Reloader 19 with about the same accuracy but the velocity is a bit better in my rifle with R19. I use magnum rifle primers for both. As a rule slightly faster powders will produce a bit more accurate ammunition it seems.

IMR4350.......and IMR4831 if you have a big swing in your temperature range, or just use 4831 all the time. The 4350 was the most accurate in my 300wm.

I used H 4831 and IMR 4831 with excellent results. I had to keep the charges heavy to keep smo grouping off the bench. Tried a few others, but had best success with the 4831 series.

75.6gr RL22 and 180 Sierra Game Kings ( This is 0.1gr higher than Max Published Load Data, Proceed with Caution, reduce 10-15% and work up 1/2 gr at a time)

Ruger M77 Mark II w/ Timney
5 shot groups at best groups have been 0.87 - 1.08" @100 yrd
3100 FPS, why not?

Also, I have used Nosler Partitions to this load recipe, but have found the groups of 5 shots are about 1.5"ish inches.

I have shot 2 bull Moose and one large and in charge Elk with the Partition Load. The longest chase was a few steps. The Partition load moving at 3100FPS has been just devastating in wound channel dissection during field dressing. I just call the Partitions 'Thor's Hammer' --Cause its the closet thing to lighting coming out of the sky in .30cal.

Have a great time.

Invest in a Lead Sled or a really really nice recoil pad!

Matt

No question Reloader 22 with 180 grain bullets.

For those that don't know mattyboylewis just gave you the magic 300Win load (tune it down a bit then work up for safety)...If you gun wont shoot this load it wont shoot....Period.

RL-22, H-4831, and H-1000 usually produce the best accuracy and velocity from the 200 grain bullets. In that order in my rifles.

I have never bother with bullets lighter than 180 grains as they are more suited for a 308.
