Favourite gopher gun

Hard to top my CZ 452 Lux and the 452 FS, but my latest addition, a few years ago is an Anschutz 1710DKL. My only .22 for many years was a CIL/Anschutz 310.

Yeah, hitting a gopher with a .223, 55gr. V-Max, is really something every varmint-hunting-fan should experience at least once. lol I could describe it, but you know... If I lived in AB (a life goal) centerfires would be part of the equation for sure. As a traveling gopher-shooter, I have to pick one...and one I can afford to shoot allot of ammo through. They can be productive days.

Our fish and game club has an annual gopher shoot where you have to collect tails to prove your tally (5 hours worth including travel time). I use a Ruger American target in 22mag or a CZ457 Premium also in 22 mag for that. If strictly shooting and not counting coup, I usually find my 40 year old 10/22 (heavily modded now) in my hands.

Not really. The places i have access to are not over run with the critters. For me a good day is anywhere between 50 and 150.

Lots of 100 to 150m shots. They have seen me enough that they hide in the burrows when i show up.
 
Got the most use on gophers with my cz452 lux. Great for walking a popping gophers. Got a few days in this season with my Kidd/Dlask 1022 with a red dot this season. Inside 50yrds. It was too much fun. I think with a little magnification it will blow the doors off the 452.
