Favourite Non Restricted Black Rifle under 1000

What is everyones favourite NR rifle under 1000 (without tax)?
personally it is a toss up between the Norinco T97 and Keltech SU16 both chambered in 223
 
Mini 14 for sure or VZ58 for $1000 and under.
But throw another $400 on and get a used great condition AR180b.
Lack of parts aside these days for the gun, I still think it's the all around best Non Restricted Black rifle for the price in Canada. I personally love the design, balance and reliability of them.
XCR is way too expensive. Tavor is way too expensive. Modern Hunter is a precision rifle vice a black rifle and again WAY too expensive.
 
Yeah a used AR180b would be my favourite too if it was 1500 and under, id love to get my hands on a nice used one.

The m1 carbine!
I also own a jr carbine, vz58, used to own a su16(meh), and would like to buy a mini14 this year.
I would also include the pump action 7615p, they can be rebarreled easily to something short, takes some tactical shotgun stock, plus you can use a 10rd magazine. That's pretty black.

I'm thinking the mini14 will be my favourite.
 
Gotta be the VZ. The thing just takes whatever you throw at it and keeps on working. And .25/Rd just makes it that much better!
 
I owned a mini-14 in a Sparta... Meh. Sold it.
I owned a SU-16 with AR stock.... Liked it, but sold it.
I own a FTU T97. I like it, but the FTU makes it over a grand.... But I traded... So.... Winner?
I owned a VZ 58... Too long. And limited to 5rounds of 7.62... Sold it.

Lol. You got rid of all of em!
You can run the polymer mag adapter and 10 round 7.62 pistol mags in the vz58

Correction, I have the t97 still. I won't be selling that one for a while.

And the mag well adapters look funny in my opinion.

And my FS2000 does most of my trigger time now.
 
Oh I see what you meant. That you traded for the T97.
I'm happy with my FTU T97. It's worked great for me! It's been 100% reliable. It's gotta be the smallest nonrestricted black rifle out there.
I agree the vz58 looks best with its proper mags for sure!! The magwell adapters do look funny with no mag in. But do match up nicely with a pmag. Looks good with a beo mag too ;) it also gets you an AR mag release and mags drop free which is a bonus

Did you get the fs2000 for under a grand? ;) they are a sweet rifle so I don't blame ya for giving it some much deserved trigger time :)

Same, I have been happy with mine as well.

I could rock a VZ again, or maybe the CZ 958 or whatever it is called.
 
I had a T97… it was ok in my opinion it felt cheep. My go to is 100% my tavor but for $1000 my 9mm jr carbine has never ever let me down.
 
If you consider a Mini 14 a black rifle then yes back in 2012 i picked one up for $699. After the " assualt rifle " scare in the state its like 900 bux nowadays
