What chokes does everyone like to use for waterfowl shooting? I've got a few shotguns (Moss Maverick 88, Asena zr7 [Turkish semi] and a Sinsinati single shot), All three of them use the same chokes, Browning Invector (not Invector plus).

Currently I've got a mix of chokes (at least 10 of em, the semi came with 5), some came with the Turkish guns, A mod came with my mossberg and I've bought a few Browning brand ones on sale. None of them are extended or ported anything fancy like that.

So, whatcha using now? What have you used in the past that you liked? What have you used in the past that you didn't like? Thanks!

I had good luck with a Briley extended LM, but now I am using a Patternmaster Code Black Goose. The Patternmaster produces a slightly better pattern at 50 yards, but both work well.

I use a Kicks High flyer in modified. It patterns really well out of my waterfowl gun.

The thing with chokes is what works best in one gun doesn’t necessarily mean it will work best in another. Without testing your gun with a variety of chokes, you’ll never know which one patterns best

Oh for sure. The hope of this thread was to find one or two chokes that are generally well liked and then I'll have to buy one and see how it performs compared to the chokes I already have.

I don't own any of your guns so no experience with them but do have invectors in my 10ga and if I had to pick one choke that seems to work well for them with steel it would be an extended Briley IM
Cheers

I am also currently using a pattern master code black goose on my waterfowl gun and I have had zero issues with hitting birds. I only use shells with a fps of 1550 or under.

The factory modified choke in my Mossberg 500 patterns so well with a few different steel loads, that I have never bothered trying anything else, other than the factory IC choke. I would try patterning the chokes you have now with a few different loads. If you don't find a combination that works for you, then look at some new tubes. Keep in mind what 1963beretta said, the choke and load that works best in one of your guns, may not be the best combination in the others.

My mossberg 535 works great with the factory accu chokes
Beretta mobil chokes in my other guns pattern well

Carlson chokes for my a400 were a waste of money

I also have an asena rz7 or what ever the combination of letters are. The factory chokes were horrid and i used a file to take the bur off them. The ic worked well before it came apart. Use the mod in it and it works well to 45 yards

I have kicks high flyer full in my Browning Maxus Invector plus .

I shoot steel BB, #2, 3 and lead 00,#4 buck from it. It patterns hevi shot steel BB very well out to 50 yards(my most used load) some would say too tight at 10-20 yards but I make it work.

It depends on a couple things. Range you are shooting, ie: over decoys or pass shooting. What shot are you shooting 4,2 or BB. What brand. You need to patern the gun and ammo at your shooting distance. I like an IM, one of the guys fro Missippi hunting had an extra full for high pass shooting he does at home, it was a big disadvantage at birds well under 30 yds.

We only shoot over decoys, and shots can be from 5 yards to 40-50 yards, depending how well the birds are finishing. I choke for the longest shot, and shoot for the head/neck, so closer birds aren't destroyed. That being said, one guest of ours had a tough time hitting mallards that were at 20 yards and less with his long range choke.

Remember guys the guy is looking for old invector plus replacements
Many chokes mentioned might be great but he cannot get in that style/ thread for straight invector
Cheers
