Hi guys

I'm hoping someone with extensive knowledge of European guns will see this; I just bought a Fca Laurona Eibar Side by Side 12GA Shotgun from Frontier Firearms. With taxes and shipping it came to $300.00 I've been told by a friend and confirmed through Google that this gun was made by Laurona (no longer in business) in the Basque city of Eibar, at least according to Frontier's description, but I'm unaware of what the date range of production might be, reputation, potential quality, etc. is for the gun. I just figured that at $300 bucks what could I lose! The description said that the mechanics of the gun are all in excellent condition, as were the bores.

Can anyone offer an education on this gun and hazard a guess as to its value?

I would hazard a guess that it is worth at least $300.00 .
Go shoot it and enjoy it and in your spare time google bits and pieces on what you have learned.
Spanish shotguns have been known to be under rated and some even junk.
That being said the same can be said for other gun manufacturers.
Shoot it and enjoy it.

As stated above its a $300 gun. If you can post pics of the water table marks someone can help with the dates. I had a list but cant seem to find it.
They are a working class gun. Not fancy not flashy but they work. Tend to be on the heavier side
 
I friend of mine kicked my butt shooting clays for years with a Laurona over and under that he cut to 26" and True choked it . He shot it for years sold it to another buddy and it has been flawless . They are highly under rated generally a well made piece . At $300 for a double you made out OK in IMHO
 
The true value of any used gun is exactly what someone actually paid for it, in your case you have established the value of your Laurona at $300, for better or for worse. What could you lose? Maximum $300. Over all Laurona made decent guns, they weren't known for anything special but they may have turned out a few special pieces for domestic Spanish consumption. If the gun has been properly cared for it will likely continue to give good service for many years and you win, if it breaks it is not economically practical to repair, you lose $300. There are a number of marks stamped on the bottom of the breech ends of the barrels, one of them is a code for the manufacture date. Post a picture of these marks or google 'Spanish shotgun date stamp marks'.
 
Laurona's are generally decent guns for the money. Regarding your specific gun, it is hard to know if you did okay until you have it in hand or post pics. I have received emails in the very recent past from Frontier Firearms advertising specials on these type of guns they have laying around. They aren't in business to give things away so I am guessing you paid what the gun is worth. You won't know for sure until you see it.

Well, based on your photos, I'd guess it was made in the 1955 to 1980 range, which were marked on spanish guns during those years starting with A1, B1 for the next year, C1, and so on. You have a fairly comprehensive set of images, yet the only thing I can see that might be a date stamp is at link "https://imgur.com/dbfJki4". I see what may be "I1" (to the left of the leftmost lug and below the FM in a circle). If that's an I1 (as in eye-one), then it was made in 1963.

If, under closer scrutiny, that is not an I1, then what you're looking for (either on the barrel flats or on the water table), is a letter of the alphabet followed by a numeral one.
