Firstly, a big thank you to Casey at Tactical Ordnance.

His work ethic, attention to detail and quality of work is unmatched. What started as a printed picture from the Vang Comp website and a dream became a reality in his shop.

I was fortunate enough to get to spend some time in the shop with Casey and see his machining operation and have some great conversation.
So thank you, I couldn't be happier.

Let's get to it, this build started as a Remington 870 Police Magnum with a 14 inch barrel, front bead sight.
Something I consider the standard for pump guns.

I wanted the Vang Comp system for a long time, felt recoil reduction and a 50% reduction in buckshot spread at 25 yards. We are lucky to have access to someone in Canada able to make this happen.

The rest, was his magic, from the enlarged beveled feed port, the scallop cut on the trigger group and the pristine silver solder work for the front sight.

His TOMM (Tac Ord Mini Mount) is fantastic, solid and holds that RMR / Holosun right wear it needs to be, no need for a cheek riser with the SGA stock.

Casey polished and refined the action and internals and believe me when I tell you this trigger and action are crisp and smooth.
The barrel looks chrome lined from how polished it is.

Lastly, the in shop finish work ended up being a contrast of Magpul FDE and Graphite Black cerakote.
The final fit and finish look like something that should be on display at Shot Show.

I will let the pictures do the talking. Range report to follow, now the work starts.
It's time to learn how to run this shotgun properly.

Lengthened forcing cones, back boring and ports. I assumed something more original with the claims.

There's is more to it than simply that. This is beyond "claims" - my 18" VC'd 870 will put generic 00 buck in to 10" at 25m all day long, and my 14" about 12", no special wads (FC) or specialty ammunition (the general rule of thumb with buckshot and a cylinder bore is about an inch of spread per yard of travel). If you need to shoot buckshot and don't want the expense of having to search out and buy Flite-Control, the Vang Comp treatment is the way to go. All three of mine are non-ported...

Any particular reason you chose non ported? Was it a pump vs. semi decision? Always interested in learning different points of view.

Mostly because I had a 14" done first and didn't want ports near my fingers - I have gorilla arms - and when I fired a 20" gun with ports I didn't notice a great deal of reduction in muzzle jump, so I decided to save the money...

ETA - all on 870's...

damn good response. i guess humanity has failed when they cant even Google. Grew up in the 80's and the knowledge were all on library shelves. If you find your answer, you would remember for life even with alzheimer.
