Well i bought a like new 50 70 Barrel at a local gun show that was to short for any decent rifle.
Anyway my Buddy cut me a 10 inch long barrel and machined it to fit my 1871 Rolling block Antique pistol. (the orignal 8 inch barrel was very worn but im keeping it)
Anyway got the Walnut cut sanded and fited today and a new ajustable sight on her.
200 Yd steel targets watch out :D This 50 70 barrel is like Brand new!!

It is a DG, I have one from Loyalist also. The DG had to be tunned, frizzen hardened, breech plug threads filled and touch hole drilled. Beyond this the only other difference, cosmetically, is the crispness of the detail of the ramrods pipes and trigger guard finial. The Loyalist being better. The Pedersoli is a relatively close copy of the first type Short Land, New Pattern (often called 2nd model). This one is the Third Model or Indian Pattern.

This gun is actually a mid January acquisition but close enough :>) I acquired a take down model of brown bess which had been converted to percussion for civilian use. The patina was thick enough that I had to break the lock screws to remove the lock and I am now rebuilding the lock back to flintlock. Hopefully will have it shooting in another week or two.

the black plate that the lock is resting against is the future #### before a bit of filing.

Can't wait to see it finished!

Still not finished yet but limping along slowly. The breach plug turned out to have only about 4 threads for reasons that escape me; unaltered originals I think should have about twice that, so I will have to make a new breach plug as well as cut more threads in the barrel to accept the plug.
The lock below is an East India Co lock from 1815 with a reinforced #### (so to speak :>) }. I chose to make the goose neck style for the bess because I think they look nicer and since the lock is not dated, I am not locked into the later style.

the last DG bess I saw looked almost purple with some type of cheap Indian stained rosewood stock. Your looks more like unstained walnut - have the DG guns improved?
