February Purchases.

I picked up this nice little No8 Mk1 today.

No.4 Longbranch, has the numbers peened over. I'm told it may be a parade rifle and that is why the number were removed. My first foray into Enfields so not too concerned about it, just wanted a nice looking shooter

This one is an SMLE MkIII that I have not received yet.

nice score. LB did not mark FTR, only the Brits, I'll bet it was CA reworked during the 1950s. No shame there, they're tight and beautiful. I have a similar '43 with some interesting characteristics and a '50. Is your '43 still in blue or did it get the nice unique greenish tint parkerization then too? I'd also be interested in what the date on the bbl is.

Purchased this at the Edmonton gunshow today - Colt 1911 .455 W&S Auto, RAF cotract, all matching, made in 1919. Paid $900 for it - the same guy has a Rast & Gasser 1898 at home I'm going to look at when I pick up the 1911.

Also have a January purchase I never posted, a Colt 1903 Pocket Hammer made in 1920 I bought off the EE.

Named to a Captain who served in the 49th Batt, CEF.

Czech VZ-52/57 and Finn Mosin

Thanks to two great CGners, I am now the proud owner two new milsurps in my collection: this nice Czech 1958 VZ-52/57 She rifle in 7,62x39. It missed the outer buttplate, magazine (already had a spare one) and, most difficult to find, the front sight hood. I now have located the outer buttplate.
Condition is great with a mirror bore and chamber.

I also have found a very nice Finn M-91/30 with a mint 1944 Tikka barrel on an hexagonal 1914 Ishevsk unscrubbed Imperial receiver. I'll publish pics later for this one.

PP: Who stripped the stock? It should be stained dark.
Do you say the stock should be dark? I have a blue-grey receiver She that has a greenish tinge varnish that looks original.
That one has a somewhat flaking varnish but it looks original too; it has light areas but there are darker ones in the recess under the sling and other parts of the stock. Maybe I lightened the pic too much to get some detail in metal.

I've seen US example painted in bedliner.....
The 4 examples I had were all in a similar stock shade - the Vz.52's I've handled have all been darker though.

PP, I bought mine brand new from Lever Arms and there were several to choose from in a rack, behind glass doors. Most were dark, some weren't. I chose a light colored stock.
