So has anyone else been having a lot of problems with Fed bulk lately?

I'm talking like 3 in 100 not working even after 4 good hits on 4 different spots on the rim of the shells...... I am currently having this problem with 2 different lots of ammo.

Lot #'s are; 1AW634 and 18W636

The real problem as I see it...... I have about 7.5K more from each lot!

Sometimes it really sucks buying in bulk!

Do you think this is worth a letter to Federal?

Would they do a dang thing about it?

Cheers!

Of the bulk stuff Federal has usually been one of the best in my guns. 3% isn't terrible but it would be enough to be irritating. HAve you tried them in more than 1 gun?

Writing them a quick note couldn't hurt though I'm not sure what sort of response you would get.

Having the same with Remington Thundebolt, 3 percent or more in missfires, plus what a
dirty round in my poor 10/22.
Remington target ammo, clean and accurate.

I have 2100 through my 10/22 so far with 2 FTF's. One I rotated a few times and tried to make it go. No luck. This has been good to me in my SR and my girls 10/22.

I suppose 3% isn't so bad but it is VERY annoying..... One brick I got half way through and I had 20ish bad rounds. Nothing worse than cycleing the action manually 2 or 3 times a 50rnd drum..... :D

I'm having the same result in 4 semi's, 2 bolts and 3 pistols..... More if you include the .22 conv. for my AR and my 1911.

I would be seriously looking at my reloading practices if I was getting a .1% (1 in 1000) failure rate in my reloads.....

Up till these 2 bad 'lots' It was the norm to go through the entire brick before finding one or two that wouldn't fire, I'd try a round twice but it would always fire when hit on the opposite side of the rim.

That doesn't seem to be the case anymore.

I found a "Customers Questions" thing on Federals web site.....

I told them of the problem and the Lot#'s I was having problems with......

Here's a copy/paste of what I told them......

I am currently experiancing a 3 to 5% failure rate in Federal .22LR ammunition. I bought 2 cases of ammuniton (a total of 10500 rounds)from a local supplier. The lots affected are 1AW634 and 18W636. In the past I have always relied on the smoothe operation of my Rimfire firearms with Federal ammunition. I fear this may no longer be the case.

Sincerely

Now to see if anything happens.......

Cheers!

*aw crap.... Now I see my crappy spelling mistakes! I already sent the dang thing!

Federal Bulk .22 ammo

Here in Manitoba and southern Saskatchewan, my hunting partner and I probably go through 7 or 8 thousand rounds a year on Gophers. I can only remember about 3 FTF rounds of the Federal Bulk ammo. A couple of years ago, the Co-Op had a sale on Federal Champion 36 gr. HP bulk at $13.00 a box of 525 rounds...........we cleaned them out.

I use a Savage Mark 2 with a heavy barrel, and I find that the Federal Bulk pack stuff is accurate enough to consistently hit a Gopher out to 150 yards if I do my part. We use mildot scopes, and it the first round doesn/t hit one at a mind boggling range for a .22, it is fairly easy to put the second one on target.

.

I have been shooting religiously the American Eagle (AKA Federal). To date I have had zero failure to fires in my 10-22. I pick up the 500 round boxes at my local gun store for $22. At $29-$30/box at CT; the 525 round bulk pack are just not very appealing.

My 0.02¢

Fed bulk 22's

Every new.22 i buy MUST preform well with Fed bulk ammo if it dosent it hits the road. After all i have over 100k of this stuff from the days of $12.00 bricks.

Hi Notsorichguy.

My name is Rick ###XX and I represent Federal for the prairie provinces. I have been in contact with Darryl at TNT Gunworks and he will be able to accept the ammunition that you are having problems with for me to deal with.
Please let me know how many full boxes of ammo that you have left. I also need to know how much you paid for them. An invoice would be great or at least who you bought them from. I will be dealing with Federal to get you a cheque for these or with Darryl and Federal to get you reimbursed for the ammo. In the meantime please return all full and partial boxes to Darryl.

Please let me know the above requested information as soon as possible so that we can get this dealt with as quickly as possible.

WOW!!!!

My whole viewpoint with Federal just did a complete 180!
