I'm looking for some Federal Gold Medal Match .308cal 168gn BTHP Sierra Matchking ammo. Anybody know where I can get it. Wholesale Sports didn't have the .308 on their website, only larger calibers. Wolverine Supplies wants $40+ for a box. Canada Ammo lists it for $35 per box but won't have any until Summer 2014.
Anyone know where I can find it at a reasonable price?

any chance anybody has a line on the 200 rd cases Federal Gold Medal Match .308cal 168gr BTHP Sierra Matchking ammo? ive checked about 10 pages on the google. wondering if someone knows of a local shop that might have some? everywhere lists it as sold out.

For the price of 10 boxes of Federal Match ammo you can buy yourself a nice reloading kit. Just because it says "Match" on the box does not mean it will shoot well in your rifle.

Ill be at the reloading phase soon, gotta lot left to learn about shooting before ill be getting picky. Since it seems to be fairly rare, (the 200 round case) I figure ill stock up now until I get more accurate with my MFS ammo, move into premium factory, and then ill buy myself a reload kit. if anyone else is looking for the 200 rd case I tracked one down on another thread. http://www.wolverinesupplies.com/de...ain-Sierra-Matchking-BTHP-200-Round-Case.aspx

All equiped Dillon and more stuff i can use and i do reload for my special rifles but i like to have at least one K of top factory Match ammo for my NM M1A /FNAR /and M21 M1A to come, reloading is time comsuming so having a lot of top ammo can prevent losing a nice day of shooting... Lapua HPS Lockbase Match 170 gr factory is as close as it get to your best reload, quality never been so good... JP.

You might want to try some Black Hills ammo if you get the chance. Tier One Armoury.ca has some in stock. It's $11 a box cheaper than Federal Gold Match, and if it's anything like their 223 ammo, it's every bit as good a the Federal Match ammo.

In 308 my finding is that Black hill ammo SD and ES are higher and somewhat inconsistant, thus make it harder to get very thight groups, once in a while i run the Federal GMM over the P35 and they are extremly consistant, the cream of the crop is Lapua factory HPS Lockbase 170 gr with a SD and an ES under 12 for both, this is very good reloads territory, they are to my knowledge the most hot loaded ammo factory on the market... what is your barrel lenght and twist rate? where is a good place to buy lapua ammo online in 200+ quantities?

I shot at least a dozen 308 on a regular base with barrel lenght varying from 18 to 26 inch, with ROT of 10/11/11.25/12 inchs the tendency of the ammo follow the barrel lenght with increase velocity with longer barrel, but accuracy is very constant with all barrel lenght... I did ordered from Hirsh Precision by 200 rounds, it is not cheap but you get to save the Lapua brass so it is a win-win situation, above average ammo + great cases to spare... JP.

FGMM is probably the best factory stuff you can get relatively easy and it shoots great at shorter distances. If you plan on shooting longer distances 300 +, you are going to want to reload. I have found SD/ES on average to still be around 50fps even on FGMM where I can keep it under 10fps on my reloads.
