Federal American Eagle .223??

Just as the title states, is it decent ammo?? I'm waiting for a bit for my 527 Lux to come in, so I thought I'd start gathering stuff up, optics, sling, ammo, dies for when I have more time and start to roll my own...
I think I can make out that they are 55gr fmj on the computer monitor, a thousand rounds for $439?? Just for sighting in and plinking of course.

I bought some just to sight in and it was decent.. unlike the Winchester white box that did not seem to have enough poop to get it to the target @100 yds..

I now reload for 223..

Its not bad ammo, not great either. Expect 1.5-2 moa. Maybe 1 with a match barrel, but imo thats a stretch

My 527 shoots it to about 2" at 100. Its good plinking ammo.

Hey guys, I just bought some Federal American Eagle yesterday but they are in a red and black box and saids hyper volocity on them. Never use them before and just wanted to give them a try and being that they were the only box left on the shelf, I grabbed them. There is absolutly no info on the box. No speed or energy or anything. I'll share my findings once I take them out.

Pmc xtac 62gr green tip is around the same price range and is supposed to be decent. I'm gonna try and get out on Sunday and blast off a few rounds of it. If I do, I will report back.

Decent plinking ammo with the occasional flyer in my experience.

Assuming you are talking the red box stuff, have not shot it.

The AR223 55gr FMJ stuff always worked well for me, but I've switched to Barnaul 62gr FMJ cause I can get it cheaper locally.

Both Red Box and Black Box (AR 223) shoot about the same 2" at 100m from my savage.
I reload now.

I like it, its good ammo. I shoot 300 m gong all day with it on my ar. If your going 600m id recomend federal premium sierra match king.

Black box - can't beat it for the price, imho.
