Guys, the only Federal Ammo 45 ACP i've ever used is American Eagle.

I found someone who has a sale on 1000 rounds of the Federal Champion 45ACP for $479. It looks like it's the plain Federal ammo that comes in a red box.

Is this Federal Ammo the same or better than their American Eagle?

Is it better than the Remington UMC and Winchester X?

I typically shoot S&B and Blazer, but 1000 rounds of these are in excess of $550 in 45ACP

Please advise.

I shot 200 rounds of it out of my sr1911. it worked great and seemed to group way better the Winchester white box.
 
If you are using the ammo for pure target work, I would suggest rolling your own pills. But if you just want to make holes or shoot IDPA, any brass cased US made ammo is fine. I shoot CRS reloads at $21/50 and they work just fine. I've never had any issues with Federal ammo. In fact, AE is my favorite brand. Cheaper and easy to find.
I'm sure the Champions will be fine. For that price, give it a go.
 
I use UMC, American Eagle, PMC in the UMP without any noticeable difference in performance. All are standard 230 ball.

Well, I made some calls to a few Ontario stores and asked what they had in stock for 45ACP. Most didn't have 1000 round cases, but said they would put one together for me based on other brands, one of which had the same ammo as the vendor in question. When they quoted me the price, I asked if they could match the other vendor. None would.

So I ordered from the original vendor. Free shipping!

I'm happy.
 
It is decent stuff. I believe that it is terribly underloaded just like the Blaser stuff. Sellier and Bellot in my opinion is much better stuff as far as full power, or shall I say regular power loads go. I really like the S&B brass for reloading too.

Federal Champion blue box .45 Auto sells for $26.00/box. Amazing price for quality Federal ammunition, especially .45 ACP which is mucho $$$. Normally $32.50/box. Federal Champion @ $26.00/box...simply WOW.
