Federal "Black Pack" .22 ammo

Picked up some on Black Friday, haven't shot any yet but planning to use it in my 10/22 for plinking, not expecting better than minute of squirrel but that's what I picked it up for

Picked up a box at $95 in October and found it pretty accurate at 50 m. Liked it well enough to get lots more on Black Friday, with the mail in rebate it worked out to 4 cents a round before tax. Find it is not as dirty as the Federal 525 blue box that I have used for years. Worked well in both my bolt action rifle as well as GSG 1911 so I am pleased!

I bought a couple of boxes for my handguns. I've used up half a box already, taking new shooters to the range during the holidays. I haven't checked it for accuracy but it seems pretty good.

I bought three cases of it on Black Friday. When I did the math, 4 cents a round was a no brainer.

My ruger mkiii seems to be fine with it. My cz455 shoots it well enough, but it's far less consistent than any of the other 22lr I had when I tested (including elegy club, action, minimags and are red box). My s&aw ar15-22 was seeing a missed out of every two mags with it. My well worn (>4K) gsg1911 hates it. Multiple misfeeds, fail to eject or stocepipes every mag. And that's a well broken in gun that was clean with the zrts kit in it. Went back to the ae stuff and she shot flawlessly.

Grumbles. The gsg is what I was really planning on putting it through.

Didn't try it in my 10/22 expect it to perform the same as the s&w. If my sbi adapter arrives and it shoots ok, I don't expect it to last long anyway. Lol.

Bought a couple of cases . Been flawless in my SR22 pistol and walther P22 . Used about half a case so far. Sometimes I have to help the slide close on the first round chambered but I've been shooting outside in the cold with them. As far as accuracy well I wouldn't know but I can hit 12 inch plates every time at 25 yards. I'm more than happy. My only regret is not buying more

Anyone tried this stuff? Looks like a 36gr. plated HP, 1600 rds packaged in 50rd boxes.

i only see the 45gr, can you txt me the link? thanks

also, there is a rebate

For every 5 boxes of Federal® rimfire ammunition you buy, we’ll give you a rebate on the cost of 1 box. Maximum rebate of $200 per household.

Qualified Canadian residents will receive a rebate check in U.S funds.

Product must be purchased between 12/3/2018 through 3/31/2019

I bought 3 cases of the stuff on black Friday $74.99 no tax and $20 rebate was too good a deal to pass up.

The ammo from the boxes I have opened looks very nice and perfect.... I am thinking it is Federal Bulk 525 but packed in 50packs. Though it may be higher grade than that. I used it in a CZ 512 and 452 which shot baseball group with the 512 with a red dot and 452 shot 1-2 inch groups with iron sights. I also tried it in a GSG1911 which shot at 10m about the same group i'd get from my 512 as 100m (this is better than most ammo from that pistol)…

I am very happy with my ammo purchase at about 3.4 cents a round.... i'd buy it over the regular bulk packs at the same price if I did it again. still 4800 is a lot I have use 150 so far.

They are okay. Not match grade by any means of course but good n cheap for practice. Prefer CCIs myself and Tenda has/had some great deals on em by the case.

Cheers.

What is the rebate per box referring to? The boxes of 500, 525, 50 rounds? It isn’t explained very well unless I’m missing something

Who cares lol that's the cheapest I've seen 22LR in 10 years.
I buy 555 winchester packs at wal mart local at 6 cents a round. That's the cheapest in canada on a regular basis.
The ####s all the same really. I've shot a lot of brands side by side. Unless you're shooting lapua match stuff, as long as it functions then at 4 cents it's the best you can possibly do sir!

The black Friday ammo rebate is over I think. The current rebate on vista outdoors is CCi but 5 boxes and get rebates the cost of 1 box up to a max of $200 meaning you can buy between 10-15000 rounds for the max rebate. Or consider it a 20% discount on the cost but full taxes are paid on the full amt

Thanks for all of the replies. I decided there's no better way to know than to buy some for myself, so I did just that. I tried it today in a Marlin 795, Marlin Papoose and Ruger 10/22 Compact. It shot very well in all three. It didn't seem overly dirty and I had one misfeed out of the 50 I tried, but it was in the Papoose and it is pretty dirty from yesterday so I'd hesitate to blame that on the ammo. Based on today's results, I grabbed another pack of 1600 from SFRC to take advantage of their 15% off Christmas sale so we've got lots of plinking/hunting ammo now!
