Federal Fusion cartridges?

Picked some up for tge 375 few weeks ago, havent had a chance to try it out yet. Price is right for a bonded bullet but all the componet doesnt seem as nice as other in the price range.

I mentioned in the moose ammo thread that it's more important to ensure that you're using a well constructed bullet than to obsess over every last tenth of an inch of group size. If your rifle will shoot quality ammo (and I think that the Fusion is pretty decent, non-premium ammo, though I've not used it myself) into 1.5 MOA then you're just fine to take it hunting. You won't win at Raton with that kind of accuracy but it will keep you in tasty venisor this winter.

I use the fusion 180 gr in my 308 browning for deer and both I shot went dow no problem.

The fusion is designed for deer sized animals not for moose, however it will likely work on them.

For moose I switch to the federal premium 180 gr nolser.

Strangly the both shoot the same out my rifle so I don't have to resight when I switch.

Check out Federal's website, they have recommendations for different sie game.

The same 120/25-06 has worked well for me, and been scary accurate. Could be shoddy QC, or a bad lot. Hitting anything at over 3000/sec at close range is going to test a bullet, a major bone like the shoulder socket will create a splat wound.

When i reload i mostly stick to Nosler partitions and some Barnes X, unless its a target or very specific load.

why the fusion wont work for moose ... the fusion is a less refine version of the Norma Oryx bullet. bullet placement is doing more than the kind of bullet on his own ....

The failures I saw where deer at 80 yards and the other at 110/125 yards. Deer died but I prefer a bullet I can count on. Speed was around 2840 for this load. My 25/06 has a 22" barrel

I will quote me again ...'' ... how dead is dead? ...'' ...

A bullet that won't penetrate a white tailed deers shoulder or exit on a broadside shot in a sufficient caliber is one I will not use
Dead is dead but an animal left to run off with a bad injury to die later is not what I'm about

It seems the larger calibers hold together better. I've played with the federal offering and I don't like it. I'll stay with partitions or interlocks. I know they'll punch thru for a quick death

I'm curious who even offers a 25-06 with that short a barrel? Makes no sense to me. But when you get into lighter, skinnier bullets with mucho velocity you would be better served with something stouter. Tailor bullet construction to impact velocity and you're logging. Bullets that behave in a 308 might be less cooperative in a 30-378.

I agree. My 25/06 is a Stevens 200. I wish it had a 26" tube but I manage with the lesser. Makes a great wolf gun.
I think the axis from savage is only 22" as well. I may be wrong but they all looked the same length on the shelf
