Federal Fusion

I've sighted these in in 150 grain 30-06 for deer this year.

They exhibit excellent accuracy for a factory round out of my 700.

We'll see how they work on the deer... but I'm guessing at least as good as Interloks or Core-Lokts, which are classic deer bullets.

A guy showed me a 165 grain .30-06 Fusion bullet he pulled out of a calf he shot with it. It mushroomed nicely, all petals were still attached and it weighed in at 151.5 grains, which is 91.8 % weight retention!!

I've used this in 170 gr with my 30-30, takes deer down pretty fast, but I try not to take shots out past 200 yrds. It's a nice load for hunting bush.

There is an article about the Fusion bullets in the March/April 2005 Rifleshooter Magazine. It's quite interesting how these bullets are made and the appear to perform very well on deer sized game. There is a quote from a guy from Federal.... "As it is currently made, the Fusion will handle any plains game in the same class as North American deer and elk. But we designed it for deer, and as wall as it performs, we think it will become the standard for American deer hunters." I think the reason that he says it's designed for deer is because the skives in the bullet make it open up a bit faster than some of the other bonded bullets available. Looks like it would be a great deer bullet!

Ya but have you checked out the new Winchester bullet? It is a ballistic tip partion boat tail with a bonded rear core    Will be interesting to see how it flies :?: :?: Sounds like Winchester has taken the AccuBond and ran with it incorporating the partion design they love so much.
