Really only posting this here because i had to dig it out to take pictures of it to PM to a fellow, but then I figured maybe some more of you would like to see it, some of you will remember it, others have heard of it but never seen it, and some simply deny that it ever existed.........only a few people I have ever come across know what it is, and how cool it is, and Remington Jim deserves to see it in all it's glory........:cool::cool:

I was just going to PM you the pictures, back of my mind had me thinking that you were starting to believe that I really didn't have this in my stash.....then i thought, hey maybe other people want to see something cool from like what 40 years ago now??

Think I might still have some, .....I know there's some .357 Maximum downstairs they made for IHMSA.
But that was from 2 generations ago, most now wouldn't know about it, the line up of IHMSA cartridges, or the Ruger "Silver Hornpipe"!!

A bunch of guys in our club bought the XP-100 and had it rechambered for IHMSA. 1970's?

I believe the calibre we used was 7mm IHMSA which was a necked down .308 cartridge.

I never could hit anything with mine; way too much boom.

The IHMSA line of cartridges was based on the 300 savage, the neck pushed back to a steeper angle making the neck longer. I've made it out of 308, but it requires serious trimming and neck turning to get it right.

7MM IHMSA is a Necked down 300 Savage cartridge - Comes out with a Nice long neck too ! The End Flap on the box of brass i have says
7 MM IHMSA . I want to Build one on a Rem M7 action RJ

I always liked the 7 IHMSA, ....put a few together for friends, but I stupidly stuck to full house .308 and cleaned up at the Canadians. Still have my TC's, Wichita, and XP'd along with 2 Hornpipes. Would be great to get handgun silhouette going again, but gather the CFO inspectors have a hard time with the steel downrange.

Handgun metallic silhouette (IHMSA) was huge in the 80's. Great fun sport. Too bad it fizzled out after Elgin Gates departed and they moved HQ to the east from Idaho Falls. Attended a couple of the International Shoots there. Fifty firing positions and sets of targets with covered firing line. Shot lots of 40's, 60's and 80's with the XP in 7BR. Usually big bore chickens at 200 meters for shootoffs. Some matches they had to go to 22 chickens at 200. Those were great shooting days. The Wichita in 7 IHMSA was probably the best factory gun out there for unlimited.
