Good advice is to stick to manual specs.
I have several friends who have been reloading for years Stateside who indicated to me they had no bad experiences using magnum primers when I asked the same question. For the loads I use in 9MM I found no discernable difference in velocities achieved or any signs of pressure from using magnum primers. The 9MM cartridge, when loaded with Unique is almost and sometimes completely full of powder (Compressed Loads).
The .38 Spl case is large and when using very light loads run the risk of, I'll call it flash over where the primer and some of the powder pushes the bullet into the barrel and then the rest of the powder ignites. This can cause your gun to become a paper weight in a hurray.
The loads you are using are pretty light loads but if they are within manual specs should work fine. You might want to direct your qusestion on this forum:

PM Felix, Deputy Al or Starmetal from this forum, al three have been reloading cast bullets for years and will, I am sure, share their experiences and give you some good advice.
Personally I would use the magnum primers up in the .38spl
