Has anybody used this stuff? what were their results?
I bought a bunch a couple days ago but a little pricey, is something better i should be looking at part#: LF13200
I bought 100 rounds of this ammo several years ago. I haven't shot anything with it but it's been a good performer in patterning tests and the recoil is softer. Like any shotshell lower velocity and harder shot means tighter and usually more consistent patterns.
At the same time as I bought the buckshot I bought a similar amount of the Federal Tactical Slug. It's an outstanding performer on light thin-skinned animals and recoiled like a 3 dram trap load.
The Federal is a good performer. If you want to get really tight patterns try a modified choke. The absolute best 00 Buck I've ever seen is Remington's LEO Reduced Recoil 8 pellet load. In and 870 Police Magnum 12" patterns are possible at 20 yards. Through a modified choked 11-87 it patterned 5-6" at 25 yards! Awesome. The Federal Tactical did 10" at 25 yards in the modified choke. Still very good and has 9 pellets instead of 8.
FYI guys, you may have been shooting older Fed low recoil. There is the newest version with a flight control wad. I have tested this out of a 14 inch MOD barrel from an 870 and the federal won hands down compared to winchester and remington. Mind you the remington was far behind the federal but there was a significant difference. My group size at about 18-20 yds was about 3-5 inches with the MOD choked barrel.
