Has anyone used Federal Vital-Shok 30-30 ammo with the nosler partition bullet? At almost twice the price of Federal Power-Shok or Winchester Super-X with round nose bullets, are they worth it? Are they more accurate? Is the nosler partition bullet that much better than the round nose?

The Nosler Partition is a very good bullet comprised of a Pointed Soft Point lead cored front part and a lead core back part separated from the front by a copper "partition", hence the name. Its greatest value is found when deep penetration is needed on large, heavy animals. The front part opens up like a normal expanding bullet, but the lead core behind the partition remains intact for deep penetration.

They are worth the money where they are needed. I'm not sure they are necessary on smaller game animals like whitetailed deer or pronghorns. Others may disagree

At the velosity that the .30-30 sends a bullet out at I see no need for them. They have been making bullets that work great in the .30-30 for a lot of years. I really like the Speer 130, 150, and 170's.
