Hello

This is the first handgun that I am buying. I have only shot my uncle 9mm beretta and that has started the handgun addiction!

I am a 24 year old female with small hands and found the walter comfortable to hold.

Just looking for reviews or suggestions for a better gun.

Thanks

What are you planning on doing with the P99? I owned one for a few months and it was mostly a love and hate relationship

Advantages of this pistol:
-Excellent Grip: This pistol does have the best grip ergonomics by far (also interchangable!)
-Short Trigger Reset: Incase you want to do fast follow up shots
-Pin Point Accuracy: Verfied by the test target
-JAMES BONDs PISTOL!
-Adjustable Sights (Rear and Front)
-Light Single/Double ActionTrigger Pull: this will be noticably lighter than your uncle's beretta

Disadvantages of this pistol:
-Very Light: Doing fast follow up shots may be difficult
-Limited Holster Support

It is a pretty ergonomic gun, but also kinda expensive. I'd recommend a M&P9 a lot more affordable and should fit small handed shooters well (with a small backstrap installed).

I had one in .40 and it was great. I never should have sold it. Blade-Tech makes a good holster that fits to address one of xopher's concerns.

Very sweet, I love mine. I can't think of any downsides, barring the cost, which is inconsequential in the long run anyway. Well worth it I think.

Feels great, shoots great, cycles anything I've put through it flawlessly and, to me, a select few have the sheer appeal of the Walther look.

Mine won't be leaving anytime soon.

If it feels that good to you, I doubt very much you'll regret it.

Welcome to the small hand problem, me too. Most single stacks will work, as do revolvers. For double stack I found a CZ75 with ultra slim grips works, nothing else for double stack as of yet.

My wife had 3 the 9mm da/sa the 9mm da only and the .40 da/sa

It is a difficult pistol to shoot accurately she sold all three of them and now runs a cz tactical sport sa only

The only good thing about em.is they are small

Check out the ruger Sr9 it is also a small pistol

i had 2 P99's...

it's a cool pistol but you are better served with a HK P30L or Glock 17. The P99 trigger isn't very consistent and recoil isn't easily managed. Hard to time the reset for followup shots.

I have a P99. Its a great little pistol. 3 front sights adjustable rear 3 backstraps and various trigger options. You can get a first gen with the SA/DA with decocker like the one I have, or choose to go with a Quick action like the Glock, DAO or the AS anti stress. Go on Wikipedia it will go into detail on the trigger options. If you do decide to pick one up, get it in OD green as it is WAY cooler than black and stainless:D

Also look at the Ruger SR9. Good price, very slim grip and pretty reliable. Read some pretty good reviews too.

Agree on all points. I've been through MANY pistols over the years, and my P99 military is one if only two on my "never sell" list.
