I have a chance to buy a like new FEG Browning Hi-Power. What is the difference between it and a Belgian made Browning Hi-Power ? Thanks

A few hundred bucks...

Sorry, that's about all I know.

I was looking at getting one as well, someone here can correct me if i am wrong but I believe the FEG is NOT a Browning product, it is a copy. The ones I have seen were good and I believe completely interchangeable with the Browning parts.

It depends on the model.

There is one similar to the Marstar version which IS NOT a clone, but there is one that is a copy and is interchangable for parts.

The main differences are that the FEG doesn't always work properly and they are not finished as nice on the inside.

You get what you pay for, and it's the old adage 'CAVEAT EMPTOR'.

Thanks guys. I think it is a Hungarian made and it looks like a Browning Hi-Power ? Would it worth 400 ?

They are not bad guns, but a far cry from the genuine Browning products. Overall quality of maching, workmanship etc. is much lower than the genuine article. I had one, and sold it right away after shooting it. It felt rougher and was less accurate than my Brownings.

Thanks for the link - but the comment below leaves me a little confused:

All FEG 'Hi-Powers' use the standard FN 13-round magazine. The 14-rd. magazine for the double-action pistols not only doesn't fit the HP clones, it also won't work in the S&W model 59 (and vice versa) because the catch slot is on the wrong side.

Sooooo, does this still mean that the 13 round FN models WILL work in the double action P9R, or is the double action P9R such an unusual beast that ONLY P9R mags will work in a P9R?

I think what it says is that the Double action FEG is not a clone of the HP and has a mag all it's own that doesn't fit anything else without modification. And that the actual FEG HP clones will take HP mags. But that is just the way I read it.

Feg P9m

I have a model P9M i picked up from the shooting edge
a couple of years ago.
I think it is great value for the money.
They cost around $450.00 new.
Never had a problem with it.
Has clones go,I think these are the best.

I used to have a FEG P9R double action. BHP mags do not fit and I had really hard times finding extra mags for it. I finally got aftermarket Promag magazines through a dealer from US. You may want to check the Brownells website as well.

Cheers

I bought a like new for 450, I found the quality of it was poor... I would spend the extra 100$ and get a Browning/FN or a Inglis HP.

If you follow my posts you know I do not buy junk. I have owned my FEG (see below) for years, it is a good solid performer and it will get you through the night. The exterior finish is very good, the interior has machine marks. The machine marks are not seen and they do not effect the handling. Regards, Richard:D
